Hathaway Brown School seeks a strategic, forward-thinking Chief Information & Innovation Officer (CIIO) to lead the school’s technology vision and operations. This senior leadership role ensures that technology is secure, reliable, and innovative while advancing exceptional teaching and learning across the institution.

Position Overview
The CIIO serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and a trusted advisor to the Head of School. This role balances day-to-day operational excellence with long-range planning, cybersecurity, data governance, and innovation—particularly in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and lead a multi-year vision for technology, digital learning, and innovation aligned with the school’s mission
· Oversee all technology infrastructure, systems, and operations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and strong performance
· Lead cybersecurity strategy, data privacy, and digital risk management across the institution
· Guide the responsible and mission-aligned integration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
· Partner with academic leadership to support faculty growth, instructional innovation, and effective use of technology in teaching and learning
· Strengthen data governance, systems integration, and reporting to support institutional decision-making
· Lead and develop the technology team, fostering a culture of service, accountability, and continuous improvement
· Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, and long-term capital planning
· Establish and communicate clear policies related to technology use, data protection, and digital conduct
· Ensure continuity of operations through strong crisis response and business resilience planning
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in information systems, educational technology, or a related field preferred
· Relevant certifications or licensure (e.g., TLIS or equivalent) strongly preferred
· Proven leadership experience in technology, information systems, or a related field
· Demonstrated ability to think strategically while managing complex operations
· Expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, artificial intelligence, and enterprise systems
· Experience supporting or partnering with educational environments preferred
· Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across a diverse community
Language Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking; capable of interpreting documents and communicating effectively with parents and staff.
Reasoning Ability: Skilled in problem-solving, data collection, and drawing valid conclusions.
Physical Demands: Regular activities include standing, walking, sitting, manual tasks, and communication. Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crawling; occasional climbing or balancing. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
